I see antivirus on android like putting antivirus on a microwave or a toast maker:
The prime and most important rule to follow is the common sense... I never used antivirus on any windows machine i used, and the only time i got infected was because i ran a .exe file downloaded from emule (dumb me), but i knew it could happen and i reacted fast enough... and didn't lose any data.
With the phone, its the same... you can have antivirus if you want to feel safer, with the extra power and memory consumption it will carry.. but what you really must do is check the sources of your installers and realize that no one will give you anything for free... be suspicious and use your brain: The best anti-virus.

I don't use antivirus on my Linux laptop and Spica.
You just have to look which permissions does an app want.
    The best antivirus.

I wouldn't be so confident if I were you Xi0N. A PC with Windows XP SP2 and no protection needs something like 2 minutes to become a part of botnet.

I don't use any protection on my Windows computers because they are behind a Linux firewall and some other stuff making my LAN safe.

Of course, if you use outdated system you might have trouble!, but that's not the case... you own a legal copy of windows and you update it whenever you are asked to, right?
Besides, I always use LINUX (Arch for being precise) and I have no worries at all....
