Default Android 2.3 (GingerBread) & 3.0 (Honeycomb) start Pinging websites

    Well,

This comes as a big surprise to me personally, Android 2.3 - Gingerbread and Android 3.0 - Honeycomb have started pinging websites means that they are being tested on live devices.

Gingerbread is being touted to be for mobile phones and tablets, Honeycomb only for tablets.

    exactly my thoughts

*must fake a 4.0 just for lulz*

    edit:

Ladies and gents, I present to you...the first Spica (and the first mobile in the world for that matter) running Android 4.0.1 That too with CyanogenMod LULZ

side note, editing your build.prop like this restricts access to any installed app on the phone (the app's there but it can't launch)

yeah you know what..don't try it, it resets a lot of stuff...just that one line does.

Ping only sends a packet from your computer to the server you are pinging and checks for a response from the server. It then provides a simple report to you.
