No 2.2 it's doesn't mean not 2.1-update 2... maybe come with some 3D drivers, radio driver, and better syncronisation with videos... then with that, could be easy to develop the unofficial 2.2... I hope so...

Read the original post again. By abandoning 2.2 for Spica Samsung says to you - "Go, buy new toy". Why they should care about 3D, video, audio, multitouch and other Spica problems if their intention is to made you to buy a new phone from Samsung. They are saying that "We have cool new phones, with cool new software". Btw no one said that that "cool new software" from Samsung doesn't have the same problems as their old software. Do you beleive that your "new" phone would be supported as it should finally? Do you like how they support your "old" one? I think that level of support stays the same. So thank you Samsung, i'll choose different vendor next time.
Btw, it's a russian thread. So i think english comments are not welcome here.
Last edited by laplander; 07-18-2010 at 09:22 PM.

Leshak имеет Google Nexus One и новенький i9000, сильно сомневаюсь что 2.2 будет на спике

To have 2.2 would be cool, but do we really miss it?
Attached is list of 2.2 improvements over 2.1 and honestly we not going to miss much. Just look:
General Android OS speed, memory, and performance optimizations - Great, but ours phone under 2.1 is quite OK.
Additional application speed improvements courtesy of JIT implementation - See above ...
Integration of Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine into the Browser application - So far we probably do not miss it much
Increased Microsoft Exchange support (security policies, auto-discovery, GAL look-up, calendar synchronization, remote wipe) - Not very relevant for most of us. It is only important in office environment.
Improved application launcher with shortcuts to Phone and Browser applications - non-standard launchers already support it and much more
USB tethering and WiFi hotspot functionality - Some of that is here thanks a lot to LeshaK
Added an option to disable data access over mobile network - Install Quick Settings
Updated Market application with batch and automatic update features - Not even sure it is good idea
Quick switching between multiple keyboard languages and their dictionaries - Would be nice, but could be done with some application
Voice dialing and contact sharing over Bluetooth - Have it on my other phone and use it 2-3 times only
Support for numeric and alphanumeric passwords -
Support for file upload fields in the Browser application -
Support for installing applications to the expandable memory - we have that thanks to LeshaK
Adobe Flash 10.1 support - Nice, but if price for that 1/2 battery life better not to have it and it is not stable at the moment
So honestly if we get some kind of kernel update we will not miss it much. And, sorry to say as I do not want to offend anyone, playing games is much better on devices that are developed for that (like PSP).
Happy owner of Spica with 2.1 fantastically improved by Leshak
PS: 4 friends just got Galaxy S with some nice contract based on my strong recommendations. And it is great phone also somewhat expensive. Screen is fantastic.
And no update can change it for rest of us with Spica. Lets just accept it. Spica is not perfect but good phone.

Ok, it's for office, but... I'm working in company, where Exchange is used. For now, even to search corporate adress book, i've to use roadsynk (and it's not free, so i, actually have to pay or crack it).Increased Microsoft Exchange support (security policies, auto-discovery, GAL look-up, calendar synchronization, remote wipe) - Not very relevant for most of us. It is only important in office environment.
This one is necessary, when you want to upload something on websites, where selection of file is done through common file-selection control, like just common "Open" or "Save" control in Windows, for now it doesn't work on 2.1's browser.Support for file upload fields in the Browser application
