Exclamation Android x86 - problem with installation

    Hi!

I want to install android x86 PC from this site:

    Android-x86 - Porting Android to x86

I try this on my friend Asus laptop and its work(cool stuff, even 3.0 works now he want 4.0 but its not RC)

But I have Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO 7425, with changed few parts(Better CPU, wifi card, bigger memory) and most important it have Bios chip from unknown GERICOM PC(Original was broken and I found only this, bceause its work and its the same platform like Fujitsu-Siemens).

I burned ISO disc with 2.3RC1 and start installation, but my problem is that everytime when I select partition that I created for android, and I select OK on pop-up's it back for partition section...
And when I try run Live CD, it just show error "not ASUS" and my PC stop responding even on restart button(i need to remove battery)

So how to install this android on non Asus Pc?
I know there is this section Add new target - Android-x86 - Porting Android to x86
    but I don't understand it :/
Where I should create this dir? on this iso(after extracting)?

And what I should put in makefile: yyy.mk?
if I don't know exact name of this bios Chip? Windows detect my pc as 255/259 series nothing more(before that I had full name/model/series/number), so after changing BIOS my pc think that its gericom, not F-C even if its still the same mainboard...

    Hi,

I am running honeycomb RC on my HCL laptop (non ASUS). It shows the warning but then runs.
I tried both the versions ASUS lptop version and EEEPC version from androi-x86.org.
Both versions are working, but EEEPC one is more stable for my machine.

    Suggested solution:
When selecting the option to "Run as live CD", press TAB key and add "NOMODESET" without quotes at the end of the code (before the -- ).
After installations it will again give error and will not start, so you need to add NOMODESET in the menuentry you create in 40_custom grub file...

    Hope this will help...

But what about full installation? Its for live cd, but i want to install it on hdd partition, I try this, and maybe usb memory version could be better, not cd...

a small correction in previous post.
use "nomodeset" (small letters) instead of NOMODESET.

regarding the installation, may be u need to format your drive as FAT. (not sure though)

I installed ICS EEEPC version on my HCL laptop today, and the installation goes well, even without the nomodeset option.
i only needed to put it in the menuentry in the grub to run it...

zaheenk, you have EEEPC with Atom processor, so you have no problems(there is separate download for this platform) I have Centrino (2.13 M 770) and I don't have name of PC(even Support/Drivers sometimes give me problems, because they don't "see" my platform)

So again: How to install this on non Asus PC? i tried every version 2.3 and 3.0 and nothing. I know Its possible to install it, but how?

    PS.
regarding the installation, may be u need to format your drive as FAT. (not sure though)
What? there isn't even compatibility with FAT system files 0_o
    and even FAT32 isn't good:
Therefore we do not recommend to install Android-x86 to a fat32 partition
I have ntfs, and EXT3 partition from old xubuntu. so its not problem :[

I do not have Asus EEEPC, I am running HCL laptop with Intel Dual core processor, and NVIDIA graphics card. And the warning "Not an ASUS machine" also appears on my laptop.
    but nomodeset works for me...
and btw on my machine ICS is installed on FAT16/32 filesystem which I can access from Windows7 and from linux mint 'lisa' as well... and it supports only FAT and EXT filesystems and not NTFS.
