    rooting = galaxy S as it has been in the market for quite some time already, roms are available n everything
    games = desire S bit better GPU therefore better game performance, since it hasn't been released (as i know of) it isnt rootable yet, although i dont think its gonna take too long for that to happen so...

    all in all i think the desire S is a better choice if ur only gonna compare those 2 phones
