    I am training to be able to help here too. If you want to create kernels you will definitely need to know C (good to know anyway) and on that I would recommend "Kernighan & Ritchie - The C Programming Language", it's easy to find a torrent by googling it(but I recommend that you buy it to support the author). The second book I heard you will need is "Advanced Programming in the Unix Environment 2" google that too. Follow the books and do all exercises in them, and come back after that and you will know a lot more and the developers can help us find more literature or example or tasks that will help us.

    Why don't you look at some source codes and understand how kernels are written

    That's a good idea but you will probably need to know C and programming in the Unix Environment before that will help very much. I still say read some literature then try to help.

    Do you need anything except C? As far as i know Linux/Android is pure C. And isn't it very hard to understand that code? I just took a quick look at it and it seems like if you don't know what the code is for it's rather complex. At least I will complete my books before I look at it again.
    Get Ubuntu and if you use Windows get Visual C++ Express if you want to follow the examples in the literature you read.

    Don't pm him if you don't know any c/c++. He probably has enough messages coming every day asking about the 3d drivers and kernel. Right now he only really needs people who are fully experienced with kernels.

    Android kernel is 100% C. Android platform is Java, C, C++ and XML.
    Code:
    for (n00b n : mSamdroid) {
        if (!n.findAnswer()) {
            n.useSearch();
        }
    }
