Default Porting MIUI for spica - call for all devs who can/want help

posted in off-topic cause i was not sure which subforum choose, any mod please move topic to the proper place

Okay maybe as you know team from g3 is porting miui, i thought that we could also try and contacted with them to get some more info

here is a link to g3 topic
    [ROM][WIP] GreenMods MIUIx port/ROM - xda-developers

okay, what i know for now.
they use "clean" 2.2 WITH touchwiz, they also modified 2.2 framework to get working launcher, they say it needs resizing (g3 - 240x400) but maybe we will not have to do that. and that would be everything i think. Not many things are done but i appreciate them for even trying. And we should try too (imho).

too bad that we donf't have any touchwiz rom, cause then we could simply do the same as they. For now we have to modify 2.2 framework on our own.

My knowledge is rather...small, but i will have a lot of time cause of holidays and i learn pretty fast.
So i am searching for people who could help, especially for people with knowledge, but any help will be usefull.

Imo we should start with leshak's aosp 2.2 as a base, and modify the framework to run at least launcher (for now).

    Any ideas/advices/people able to help?

Hi, risking to look ignorant can I ask why would anyone want MIUIx over CM ? I don't really know much about MIUI but I think you do. Can you give us pros and cons compared to CM? If you could "sell" it to the public here maybe it would be easier to attract developers at the same time.
stock + z4root = fast and stable rooted ROM

Okay, I think the biggest and maybe only one adventage would be appearance. For me miui is just beautifull. It is just like with htc sense, main difference is layout.

Even a fully working launcher would be something cool

I think fully working 2.3 and 38 kernel is more important than cool look.

I tried to port launcher for our resolution but wouldn't work. It was in the launcher chooser. I don't know what the problem is. Certainly not in the resolution, but rather something else.

The miui launcher requires framework behind it, so that would need to be ported to make the launcher work.
