I got the drivers working on two computers now. A vista 64bit and a WinXP 32bit. The Samsung USB device and Samsung modem is detected on both. Odin also detects the phone.

However, on both machines, Odin stops at "<1> setup connection...".

Is there some other setting that I need to set on the phone? I boot the phone with vol-down+cam+power-on and get the downloader screen.

When I open the modem in the device manager and click "query modem" it says it doesn't respond. Is this normal?

If Odin sees the phone, then install the driver no longer need. You prevent any program which intercepts the com port. Remove all programs that use the com ports, if possible (programs for nokia or SE ...).

I have tried.. On the WinXP there aren't any phone programs etc running and NPS wasn't installed. Just the drivers drv5700.

Odin run in administrator mode? Try to reinstall the device and try again ... more reasons not visible...

thx! already did and success. now , 2nd question. mine dont have activesync / microsoft exchange support enable in default mail client.
any way to enable it?

I found the problem!!!

It was that the Opera browser did not download the last couple of kb of the kernel .tar-file from this forum, so that is why Odin did not work!

Try to put the file in a verifying archive like rar, bz2, 7z, or even zip, to make sure integrity. Or add a MD5 hash to check

Just a thought... The Superuser app requires Debug mode enabled, otherwise you get a black screen and/or force closing.
