    Lightbulb BASEBANDS FOR ANDROID 2.1/2.2/2.3

WARNING: THIS METHOD CAN BE DANGEROUS. DON’T DO ANYTHING IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU DO.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU TRANSFORM YOUR SPICA INTO A BRICK

NOTE: THESE BASEBAND FILES ARE SUITABLE ONLY FOR ANDROID 2.1 AND HIGHER. DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL THEM ON ANDROID 1.5 OR 1.6!

Some people are faced with problems probably caused by baseband.

    Problems reveal as:

    - poor coverage
    - unstable mobile data transmission
    - poor GPS performance (slow fix)

Occurrence of mentioned problems also depends on the network. If everything works fine, there's no need to change your baseband.

Updating your baseband to the latest version can be a solution but sometimes the older version works better in specific network. You have to check it yourself.

Files are flashable via ODIN, you can download them from below links:

    JC1 baseband

    JD1 baseband

    JE1 baseband (thanks to johnlu)

    JH1 baseband (thanks to andriusst)

All above basebands come from european firmwares!

    ODIN INSTRUCTIONS:

    1. Make sure that "Debug only" and "One package" are NOT selected in Odin
    2. Click "Reset files"
    3. Make sure that spica_jc3.ops file is selected as OPS
    4. Select XXX-Phone.tar as PHONE package and flash it

    ODIN files:

    Odin Multi Downloader 4.16

    spica_jc3.ops

If you have a different baseband than those mentioned above, let me know what is your firmware version.

If you want to revert to your usual baseband just flash the "__________phone.tar" file from your usual firmware package - that's the one that contains the baseband version

Just use PHONE package from your firmware.

Ok, not had chance to test GPS yet as have been indoors and it's too damn cold out there to stand there waiting for my gps to lock on lol but so far inside the house the network signal strength seems stronger and mobile data download over HSDPA/3G seems smoother and possibly faster Could be a winner for me!
(might help that I'm on 3UK too hehe)

Hi, I have JD1 and I want to flash JH1.
Will kernel or mod or whatever be affected with the baseband change?
Will I have to reinstall some of the other components?
    Thanks a lot!

No, flashing baseband doesn't affect kernel or other firmware components.
