    Default Battery LIFE..

My spica is 2 years old. I find nowadays, the battery doesn't last as long as it did. When i unplug the phone after a full recharge, the phone would drain fast in the first half an hour to about 80%. After that the drain is regular. Is this what happens when batteries loose capacity ?

I've tried various roms and kernels. For moderate usage how many years would the battery last. Would i have to get a new one soon; or can i get one more year out of this? The problem is that battery for spica is hard to get in my place and its also expensive. I would like to make the most of this battery and move on to a new phone after a while.

    What do you think?

Even i am facing the same issue. Earlier i used to get almost 2-2.5 days on a single charge with moderate use. Now it is reduced to 1 day. But it doesn't matter much. I just charge it during the night. If you battery doesnt even last from morning to night then get a new one, or else just charge it when you go to sleep.

Also i guess there is some problem with the battery drivers implementation. Dont disconnect the phone as soon as it shows 100% charged. If you do that you will end up in 80% in just few mins. Let it charge for couple of hrs more after it has showed 100%.

I have been thinking about getting a new phone for a while now, but still dont want to spend that kind of cash on new android device. Lets face it, even after lot of effort from many devs here, spica is pretty darn slow and hangs most of the time. No disrespect to the devs here. They have done their best and i thank them for that. I dont expect any further development here. I guess i might continue using it for 6 more months and then buy the latest phone available at that time. Hope my battery runs till then.

I guess when you buy your new battery try not to overuse it. In that, let it run down completely before charging it and switch the phone off when you do it. I had my phone galaxy i5700 for 2 yrs now and my battery is still pretty much the same as when I have bought it!

I recently installed some new apps on my phone which seemed to drain the battery more quickly. Kik Messenger was one of them. My battery life certainly seemed a lot shorter. Removed apps and battery life is better again.
