Causes of slowness/lag in Spica

I know Maps is heavy, so is there any light app that has its features not all but some of them are really required, any lite messaging app alternate, Currently I am using GO SMS Pro, and can't get features like this one in youlu (although it's heavy too)

Try mapquest for maps.
