    Default Comparsion of replacement batteries

    Hello all,

I am close to buy a new battery for my Spica. There are several type of them over the net, so it would be helpfull all of us if you share your experience if you already bought one.
If you have graph with the old and the new one is the best, as we can find at the discussion topic of Tom3q's Gingerbread ROM.

    Here's my battery graphs:

    Old:Attachment 8929 New:Attachment 8928

This was the first usage... charged it fully with phone off, then pulled the charger for a few seconds to get into recovery, cleared battery stats then booted... unplugged charger when the phone had finished booting (when icons for apps on the sd card appeared)

Since then the battery life has been a little bit pants to be honest... It doesn't seem to perform anywhere NEAR that well any more - I'm dropping from 30% down to ~5% in 10 minutes or so with a bit of WiFi usage (tapatalk mostly so no large apps...)

Plus the battery usage screen shows that the display is hogging 62%!! I've got my timeout set to 30 seconds so even if it gets woken in my pocket it shouldn't drain it by that much surely...

Any ideas what's going on there?

Any help appreciated!! Thanks in advance

The peak was a quick charge-up not a spike from the battery

Checking in Spare Parts and there's nothing much in 'partial wake usage' and 55.7% running / 53.4% screen on - that would mean that the phone has been 'on' for more than 6.5 hours of my 13 hour day!! I don't think so... lol

Used it as I bought it. I think I will let it go to 0% then do a full charge. It was used with a lot of 3g browsing, facebook, tweetdeck and dolphin HD. I am very satisfied!

And it had a lot of browsing both on 3g and wifi Sadly enough I couldn't enjoy it too much because the connector has problems again. I need to take it to the service again...

Frequent full discharges put additional strain on the battery. It is better to achieve several partial discharges with frequent recharges. Recharging a partially charged Lithium-Ion does not cause harm because there is no memory effect (Lithium-Ion batteries differ from Nickel-based batteries).

Is it better to completely discharge the battery before recharge ?
The Lithium-Ion batteries prefer a partial rather than a full discharge. It is better not to discharge them too deeply but charge them more often. Frequent full discharges should be avoided when possible.
Anyhow, i just did a 6h school day with almost complete wifi usage, 4 hours lecture about hydrocarbons.
Thats 6 hours of "non-stop" internet browsing.

You're not entirely correct. The phone doesn't fully discharge the battery. It considers the battery as empty when it drops to 3.3V or 3.4V if I remember correctly. There is still some charge in it left in this state, but the phone will power off to protect the battery from overdischarging (discharging completely) and internal components from operation on too low voltage.
