Help a noob pls =((

i want to root my samsung galaxy spica. the problem is, i do not know whther it is compatible. Some websites say it must be JC3 but i don't know if my phone is. the guide for rooting on the <HOW TO> thread only says about android 2.1. My firmware version is 2.1-update 1 and basband version is i570EDXJC2 and build number is ECLAIR.DXJC4. can i still root it? or are there any methods i have to do before hand. I tried to root it using the steps and my phone was detected. however the port driver could not be installed. it has an error code 10. the modem and usb ports are installed fine. after using odin, it is able to detect my phone and add it. however, after starting the process, it is stuck at "setup connection" for about 12 mins. i decided to close odin and unplug the usb cable. after on-ning and off-ing my phone, the panthion home screen keeps restarting so i have to use another home screen, open home. Can anyone tell me whether my phone is able to be rooted? And can you tell me why odin is stuck at "setup connection"? does the port driver need to be installed? or is usb and modem driver sufficient? btw, i installed kiess and the connection problem for port was still the same. i need help asap pleasee. Please teach me how to root my phone =(
