    Updating apps in ROM
    Hi everyone
From my understanding of Android's directory layout I see that ROM content is reflected in /system/app directory. So every app that comes with ROM falshing is there. Right? Every app that I install lands in /data/app, including updates. For example. There's /system/app/Facebook.apk. When I update facebook app, /data/app/com.facebook.katana.apk appears. Problem is updating that way takes a lot of memory space. My question is: can I (in any way) "update" app by copying corresponding app from /data to /system? Would it work if I copied said com.facebook.katana.apk to ROM zip file (as Facebook.apk) and reflash spica? Would I have to wipe cache?

Yes, you are wright. Whenever a system app updates, it duplicates in /data folder. You can manually move that *.apk to the /system folder an replace the old version or you could use Titanium Backup to "merge updated apps to ROM".

To move updated apps to /system use apps2rom:

    Hi,
My phone is trapped in a continuous “install” loop, which means that each time I reboot the phone (or shutdown/boot) it restarts the installation. From what I have gathered, it seems that my userdata partition is corrupt : if I go into recovery, I can’t format it, through the menu, though I can wipe it. (also, I played a bit with the adb shell, and I can acces it just fine)

I know that Odin should fix the problem (looks similar to this thread), but even if I could get my hand on a windows box, I cannot put the phone into download mode, it just boots.

If someone knows what to do, it would be a great help (reinstalling each reboot doesn’t bother me much, I have backups, but missing SMS because of “low memory” does).

And I’m using the latest (7.4) build from tom3q, although I was running 7.2 before and I already had the problem, if this helps.
