Thumbs up Updating Launcherpro (Samdroidmod Kitchen)

    Hi guys,

    Just a random question,

Launcherpro just released a new update. I've got the new .apk for it, but when I click install, it keeps telling me installation fail etc.

    Other .apks install fine

Is it because I have launcherpro as my default home application (I have no other home applications)? If so, is there a workaround to it?

Thanks in advance! :P Really sorry if this has been answered before.

"Instead of apologising, why not search?"

I tried, but couldn't get a result. Maybe my keywords didn't match.

    Thanks anyway

you can also do without PC :

install new launcher pro from market -> will install in data/app

    use rootexplorer, move "com.fede.launcher.apk" from data/app to -> system/app

if older launcher pro in system/app is named : launcherpro.apk -> delete it

    reboot phone (use on/off key)

i do this every time a new launcher pro is available, takes < 1 min. and you don´t need computer ...

I haven't tested this but it should work.

    1. Get ADW Launcher or any other launcher app from the Market, open it and set it as your default launcher.

    2. Reboot, then remove LauncherPro from system/app with whatever system app removal method you like.
(If you don't know how to remove system apps look up Root Manager as it makes it very easy. Root Explorer also works.)

    3. Install LauncherPro from the Market, open it and set it as your default launcher.

    4. Uninstall ADW Launcher

If this works for you please reply as it's untested.

EDIT: BTW this should work permanently so you won't have to do it again.

A simple update from market should work.

But if you have seperate .apk, use.root explorer to delete launcher pro from system/apps, and reboot. Then install the new .apk.

Thanks guys! Really touched that nobody came here to scold me about repeated posting of the same question.

Sadly @jay and @ronocod, I'm using ES File Explorer. When I try to delete launcherpro.apk, it tells me the file cannot be deleted.

Any ideas? :P I have superuser btw.

EDIT 1: I've enabled root permissions on ES file explorer. Successfully deleted launcherpro.apk and replaced with com.fede.launcher.apk.

But now when I press home button, all I see is ADW launcher.

    Hmm...

i never use ES FE, i use RE
in RE, you should mount write permission then you can delete or paste files to the read-only area such as /system/app

the soltuion is easy, you don't need to do RECOVERY one more time,

just delete the old LP , then install new version,
but if you don't have another home desktop apk installed, you'd better install another one first such as helix or ADW, because you will get black screen if you uninstall the only desktop home APK.

    O.O Yup that's what I did.

HAHAHA Opps, I made an elementary mistake of not clearing default for ADW Launcher. Sorry guys! Thank you for your time
