    Cool Working GPS finally we have it 2.1/2.2

    The gps was not working, now you can install this, and it contains:

    LbsTestMode.apk - which contains the new settings for gps.

    gps.conf -
    Code:
    NTP_SERVER=0.europe.pool.ntp.org
    NTP_SERVER=1.europe.pool.ntp.org
    NTP_SERVER=2.europe.pool.ntp.org
    NTP_SERVER=3.europe.pool.ntp.org
    XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
    XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
    XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin

    # DEBUG LEVELS: 0 - none, 1 - Error, 2 - Warning, 3 - Info
    # 4 - Debug, 5 - Verbose
    DEBUG_LEVEL =0

    # Intermediate position report, 1=enable, 0=disable
    INTERMEDIATE_POS=0

    # Accuracy threshold for intermediate positions
    # less accurate positions are ignored, 0 for passing all positions
    ACCURACY_THRES=0

    # Report supl ref location as position, 1=enable, 0=disable
    REPORT_POSITION_USE_SUPL_REFLOC=1

    # Wiper (wifi positioning), 1=enable, 0=disable
    ENABLE_WIPER=1

    ################################
    ##### AGPS server settings #####
    ################################

    # FOR SUPL SUPPORT, set the following
    SUPL_HOST=supl.google.com
    SUPL_PORT=7276
    SUPL_NO_SECURE_PORT=7276
    SUPL_SECURE_PORT=7276

    # FOR C2K PDE SUPPORT, set the following
    # C2K_HOST=c2k.pde.com or IP
    # C2K_PORT=1234

    #################################
    ##### AGPS Carrier settings #####

    CURRENT_CARRIER=common
    DEFAULT_AGPS_ENABLE=TRUE
    DEFAULT_SSL_ENABLE=FALSE

    # TRUE for "User Plane", FALSE for "Control Plane"
    DEFAULT_USER_PLANE=TRUE
    Steps for installing:
    1. Download the update.zip
    2. Open it and edit first lines of gps.conf
    this lines will be edited with the server from your zone found here
    Code:
    NTP_SERVER=0.europe.pool.ntp.org
    NTP_SERVER=1.europe.pool.ntp.org
    NTP_SERVER=2.europe.pool.ntp.org
    NTP_SERVER=3.europe.pool.ntp.org
    Then save the file and put the update.zip to your sdcard.
    3. Enter recovery and install the zip and restart
    4. With your adw launcher or pro launcher make a custom shortccut to activities>LbsTestMode>.LbsTestMode
    5. Open LbsTestMode with your new shortcut and edit the config in SUPL/CP and put it to custom and enter the supl server supl.google.com(just this, without any www) with the port 7276, secure mode off and gps mode supl.Then press back
    6. Enter now in LbsTestMode the application settings and set it to MS Based and press back.
    7. Now press on main of LbsTestMode, delete gps data.You can now exit the app and restart your phone.
    8. Now use an app like Gps Status to force download latest gps data and see your gps work.

    Enjoy !!!

    No more stuck gps not refreshing anything and waiting 5 years to lock to satellites, even if it is still not always instantly but always and instantly is refreshing 2 times faster and always connects to satellites and almost always lock to them and gps starts very fast.
    Please test it and report. Especially test different configures of the app so we can improve this.

    Tip! - Seems to me that the LbsTestMode that is present in the update(3).zip is faster and with skyhooks off, on doesen't seem to be faster and somehow, maybe it was my impression that it limits my gps satellites connection , please test it if you can, rebooting between changes of the settings and with settings in supl secure port ON. This seems to me even 3 times faster. And with this package i'v got 5 times more accuracy, this was my case, if everyone's case is the same, we have made a bigger step to perfect gps.

    Note: Please test it somewhere in the clear sky the first time and first search of gps satellites is slowest because he is somehow calibrating.

    Info:The gps has great response and almost anytime connects instantly only using baseband jc1 not jd1, jd1 has problems with gps as i see and still gets stuck sometimes. It works with any baseband, but JC1 is the fastest and with snr even over 50 in romania.
    And Please check with a root explorer that you do not have in system>etc>init.d the 50gpsfix (this will overwrite the gps.conf)

    BEST PERFORMANCE
    : Put it on standalone, with supl on auto mode, secure port on, skyhooks on. Works best now for me! Even after restarts instant lock.

    Updates:
    17.01.2011 - Making tutorial for how to adjust settings and added to gps.conf as default, the europe zone.
    18.01.2011 - New LbsTestMode.apk which allows skyhook settings like the updated sgs one.

    Thank you all participating and thank the creators, the gods of this phone because without them, the phone would of been a cheap useless toy, now we have a powerful tool.

    Now i am not too often active here, i gave away my spica, if any questions or suggestions or think something is revolutionary, just pm me and i'l put here your improvement. And this might work for any other phone, but anything you do, you do it on your responsibility.

    Edit the first lines with
    Code:
    NTP_SERVER=0.ro.pool.ntp.org
    NTP_SERVER=1.ro.pool.ntp.org
    NTP_SERVER=2.ro.pool.ntp.org
    NTP_SERVER=3.ro.pool.ntp.org
    with the servers form your country that can be found here
    And anyhow ntp servers are only 5% importance, on wm the diference with ntp data and without was for maximum 10 seconds lock time

    This can be done much easier. Another user of this forum, Double has developed a tool 'fasterfix', with which you can change xx.pool.ntp.org to your country/region
    Fasterfix

    I'm not shure if the settings for supl.google.com are also changed, but I know there was some discussion about that then, both in the fasterfix thread and here: GPS Speedup
