I've open this thread to bring all of them together, they already exists in this forum but they are scattered around here. So here they are:

XDA Phone.apk@315x315 :Phone.apk

Contacts.apk with crop@315x315 :Contacts.apk

Enjoy them! (no bugs reported:P, i don't think it's even possible to have a bug)

Safest way to install them:

1.Cook a samdroidmod in the kitchen SamdroidMod Kitchen v1.x.x All in One [EN] with everything you want or nothing at all (you should at least put one app, like calculator).
2.Replace the Phone.apk and Contacts.apk in system>app with these ones.
3.Apply zip via Recovery.

UPDATE: you can cook them directly in the kitchen SamdroidMod Kitchen v1.x.x All in One [EN] now, thanks to LeshaK.

You have to change the photos in the phonebook (pick again) to benefit the 313x315 crop or else you'll have 315x315 photo call but with unclear image, you shouldn't sync with google after doing this, you should insted export contacts to SD card (safer) i've heard that on android 1.6 when syncing with google, you lose the quality in photos (i never tried).:-s. Yeah, you just have to chane the files in system app.

Contacts.apk modified files:

AttachImage.smali: .line 132 and .line 133
const/16 v21, 0x60 --> changed to 0x13B
ContactsUtils.smali:
.method public static getPhotoPickIntent()Landroid/content/Intent;

const/16 v4, 0x60 --> changed to 0x13B

Phone.apk modified:
in res>layout
call_card_person_info.xml to show @315x315
call_card.xml resized fonts and change location of the notifications (like call duration)

I'm sorry that i can't give more details but the file is binary and i don't remember the offsets i've modified.

yeah, it´s working, but exchanging the .apk´s with root explorer was quite dangerous, because one process (phone) always stopped working after copying the new phone.apk to system/app , and i had to set the permissions again ...

it was quite tricky to do that, because every 5 seconds the popup appeared ...

but after all it worked, i did a reboot and everything is working fine now !

i picked the photos for the contacts again and quality is clear now !

you welcome! the safer way to do this is by recovery, replacing the files in a samdroidmod.zip update
