here you can share your experience in nexus s
i ll write how i i unlocked and roote my nexus s tomorrow.

how i did

1. updated to latest 2.3.4 version. [this step not necessary ].... then switch off the phone
2. put the phone in recovery mode [press volume up and power button ]
3.connect the phone to the computer via usb cable
4. my nexus s did not detec at first so i have done the following
a.download android sdk and installed
b.set the environment variable ... right click my computer->properties->environment variable->system variables->path . u add the path of your tools or platform- tools folder path [ in my case it is like ;D:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools; ] .
i told tools or paltform-tools because adb.exe was in tools but later it moved to platform-tools folder due to some updation
c.now double click the sdk manager.exe and check the available packages in that you install google usb driver package.
d. after the installation you go to D:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver [ where u installed android sdk ]
and in that one file named android_winusb.inf open the file and add these lines

Google NexusS
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_4E20
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_18D1&PID_4E20&MI_01

then save the file.

5.now again i reconnected then updated the driver and browsed the android_winusb.inf file . now my phone driver has been installed properly.
6.now u can check in dos prompt if ur phone is detected or not by simply typing adb devices
7.now in dos prompt u go to tools folder in android sdk and type fastboot oem unlock
8.then in your phone it shows dialogue .u just use the volume button and accept it and reboot
9.now ur phone is unlocked
10. now you want to install the clockwork mode recovery and super user file .both u download
11. download the clockwork mode recovery to tools folder and go to the folder in dos.now type fastboot flash recovery [clockworkmod image name type here]
12.then recovery will be installed.
13.now u go to recovery and select from install zip from sd card and select the superuser file whis s downloaded and kept in your sd card
14.if the installation successfull then reboot
15.now your home screen will come and your phone is rooted. check with application

this s how i had done.
