    Default Battery drainage.

So I have been using my spica daily since I got it, about 2,5 years ago. And now with the Cyanogenmod 7.x: http://forum.samdroid.net/f62/cyanog...ld-7-4-a-5631/ , The battery gets drained a soon as I start an application. I don't believe that it's the software fault. Because when it's has been drained I try to charge it the symbol that shows how much it has been charged and also when it's done charging, only shows that it's charging the last pin on the battery symbol. The other pins are already charged. And then says it's done. So it seems almost like some(major) part of the battery is dead or unusable.
Why is that? Is it because it's old or is it because of some software problem?

2.5 years is a long time for the battery of Spica. Most probably it's at the end of its life now.

    EDIT:

Yes, that's it. See those sudden level drops. That's a typical symptom of a dying battery.

Now I'm actually kinda glad it came to an end. I think it's time to move on. But then there oh so many nice mods, if it weren't for them I probably would have bought a new phone ages ago.

Thanks tom3q for making this phone usable! But now i'm getting a Padfone.

I have exactly the same problem and my battery is 2 years old, so I'm gonna get a new one soon. I got a bit better battery time and the charging screen charged from zero when I did the following:

    1. Use your phone normally till it turns off.
2a. Restart the phone and let it turn off again because of the low battery level.
2b. Put the phone in download mode (volume down+end call+camera) and let it be until the phone turns off.
    3. Repeat step 2 until the phone won't start anymore. For me this took awhile and many reboots, but just repeat step 2.

After that it charged from 0 (no bars/pins in the battery) when the phone was turned off and plugged in. You could also try pulling out the battery and leaving it out for about 30 minutes or pull out the battery, then hold the "end call" button for ~20-25 seconds. I tried all off these solutions, and I'm not certain which ones actually work but I'm certain the first one mentioned above gave me a little more battery time.

But I would suggest you taking tom3q advice and buy a new battery. I'm waiting for mine and I almost only use it for texting since the battery dies so quickly when calling and using the internet.

    Hope this was helpful!

So I have to do 2a and b over and over again until it wont start and then charge it fully? Do I have to do this everytime it uncharges?
I don't think I'll buy a new battery since I'm buying a new phone instead.

Yeah that's what I did and no, I only had to do it once after I flashed CM7.

Try to start the phone in recovery mode and keep the phone running until it turns off itself. Recovery doesn't have any kind of battery monitoring so it won't shut the phone down if it detects low battery condition.

I tried to let it die again and then charge it, turned off. It charged all the bars/pins this time which I thought was positive but when it was done and I started the phone after disconnecting it from the charger I died as soon as the phone started and asked me for the PIN number. I will now try the Recovery mode discharge-thing.

    Edit:
I depleted the battery with recovery mode and now it won't start at all. So I tried to fully charge it. But when I started the phone it died immediately. Two tries; same result. I don't think there's anything to do. Good bye Spica!
