Question How to upgrade from 1GB MicroSD to 16GB MicroSDHC without Data loss???

    Hi,

Can some one explain or at least tell me if it is possible or not to upgrade from 1GB to 16GB MicroSDHC and all that without having any data loss???

I see that my 1GB card has FAT formatted but that is not possible with a MicroSDHC card.

I also cant access my Spica SD card when connected via USB cable with New PC Studio, or do i need some other software to do that?

Nor can i access my Spica via File Explorer, the drive letter is showing but can not access
In my devices configuration it has the driver installed under USB-controllers for mass storage GT-I5700.

    Any information is welcome!!!

    Regards,
    Vaako

    Hi,

I have slove my problem with use of two USB to SD-Card adapters.
    1GB MicroSD is formatted FAT.
    16GB MicroSDHC is formatted FAT32.
    Just Copy and Paste
There are no hidden files or strange partitions.

But strange that i cant access my Spica SD card via USB cable!!!
This problem has not sloved yet.

    Regards,
    Vaako

    Did you use apps2sd?
if not - simple copy all files from 8 -> 16GB (you can use USB cardreader)

You would need to copy the files from the ext2 partition from the first card to a temporary location and then copy them back on the second card.

Here are a few solutions :
    - on linux, you can simply mount the first card's Ext2 partition, copy off the files to the PC, mount the second card and copy the files over.
    - on windows you could also use DroidExplorer or Android Commander, copy the files from the phone and after you put the new card and reboot your phone you can copy them back.
    - on windows you could copy the files from the Ext2 partition to the sdcard using rootexplorer (or any similar program) copy them on the second card and then using root explorer copy the files to the second card's Ext2 partition.

The problems with the last 2 solutions is that you might loose the file permisions, maybe it would be better to use tar to archive the folders, copy the archive to the sdcard's Fat32 partition, copy it over to the second card and then unarchive it to the correct folder.

PS. i said "the Ext2 partition", but it might be Ext3 sau Ext4, it depends on how you formated the partition.

A fresh start might probably be better, that way you'll be certain there's not "garbage" left :-)
