Default Request to kernel hack:4095 "Internal microphone cuts off when headphones plugged in"

    Hi,

This is one of my wishes that I'm be happy to see - to talk while not plugging headphones out, using phone's mic.

Can please someone of kernel hackers see if it's doable for Spica? Looks like there exists a solution - but some kernel/system hacking needed.

Here's a reference to someone who did it:
Issue 4095 - android - Internal microphone cuts off when headphones plugged in - Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project - Google Project Hosting

Rebuilding kernel ALSA modules or libaudio with a patch like one at the reference, I guess. I'm not kernel/linux sound specialist in no way, sadly.

We're in Spica forum, does it have two mics?
Anyway, the idea of change is dead simple: do NOT change any sound routing when headphones are plugged in. It should work for any number of mics

Yes, it has two mics. If you take a look on the right side, over the lock button, you will see a small hole, which is for the second mic. Also if you record a video you will notice that if you "rub" your finger on that hole, you will see that it makes noise, so it is used, but only in video recording mode.

I see, thank you. But it doesn't make any difference, right?
