Spica and standby waiting for phone calls....

Hi all.
During various modding experiments I suddendly discovered that baseband activity not always runs as it should. It happened (mostly with 2.2 CM versions and 2.2 LS ones) that there're full bars signal on the screen but the phone was actually unreachable... like busy from the other end.
That pissed me off quiet a bit cause I was waiting for some calls...
I think that the problem is easily duplicable if you begin to "play" with network 2g/3g or scan functions... you'll see some "network errors" messages and you're at the beginning of that situation.
A reboot and everything is fine but from that moment I don't know if my phone is actually reachable or not without calling myself or waiting for the call.

i was thinking if there're some developers space to check and display if network is online. I don't know if the values under "phone info" page could help to understand it.
I don't like the idea that the phone is busy; the weird thing was that if you did a call or make a data connection it runs well during that "hang status".
