    Default Restoring IMEI

    Hi everyone...

I've recently flashed my SGS with JPK rom but for some reason (don't know what reason), my IMEI get kind of corrupted. It should start by 351 and it's starting with 000.

I know this can be a very complicated situation but i need to know if it is possible to get my IMEI back, how to do it and with who can i talk to so that my IMEI can be restored...

    Thanks

no one@ xda has been able to restore the imei of the galaxy s till date or if someone has they haven't posted it as it is illegal ...but all the best to you guys. also I would suggest keeping the way to restore imei a secret as it could lead to imei cloning if posted publicly.

    Is your IMEI now: 004999010640000?
So far as I`ve expected in whole web, you should try the following:
    1. Backup your /efs directory (better later than never )
    2. Flash your previons firmware
    3. Delete in /efs directory files dated 24 Oct: nv_data.bin & nv_data.bin.md5 - and reboot your phone.

By the way.. today was check my /efs directory.. quite strange, but its empty.. and my IMEI is ok (I also have backup of this directory)
This game has no name.. It will never be the same...

    Thanks for replying...

Please tell me what you mean by "flash your previous firmware"???

I have flashed JPK over an old JPK flash. So i've just re-flashed...

I have already flashed JPK several times, one over the other and i don't know when does the IMEI got corrupted.

At the begining, i know that i've made a backup of /efs folder but i didn't realised by that time that i had made a backup without superuser permissions, so that backed up folder was empty. By other words, no backup was actually made.

At this moment i'm not understandig something:

The IMEI is a code that is stored where? In some viewable, writable, reachable file/folder or is it stored in some kind of an unreachable ROM or any other kind of memory?

And why does this can be possible? IMEI get corrupted?

As far as logic makes sense to me, the IMEI can't be stored in any of those /efs files because i think those files comes with each ROM we download and install. So, if it dosen't come inside any of those files, why does IMEI get corrupted when flashing new ROMs into the phone?

Ok, i've made some questions in this post. I kindly ask you people that you answer them all so that i can be enlighted about them...

    Thanks in advance...

Dude you have asked a lot of questions in one single post

    Anyways here you go:-

    How to restore imei - Page 7 - xda-developers

go through all the pages of this thread and you may get the answers to all your questions.
the ones left unanswered please post them here.

PS- I do not own the galaxy S (own the i5700) but would love to help you out.
Have been reading a lot about IMEI restoration but still no leads.
All i know is that it is stored in nv_data.bin and encrypted. The things to know here are the offset where it is stored and the encryption algo used. Please do not post here any of the above info if you get to know them, you can either PM or mail me.

No way to restore. Some people can make a new nv_data.bin file for you (of course not for free).

Can you tell me who are they, so that i can talk to them???

Further i have to say the following that i've noticed this last days...

When i started to mess around with ROMs and PDA and kernels and so, i decided to change my Product Code with a method that maybe could have bricked my nv_data.bin.

The method tells to open nv_data.bin with notepad, search for the string "GT-I9000HKD".
This string was found along with this string "ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿMP 0.800 ÿKOR GT-I9000HKDKOR".
Then it says to change only the letters in red to the Product Code of our country, so i've changed to TPH and I saved the file.

Then they say to delete nv_data.bin.md5 and to reboot the phone.

Well, i think it was supposed that if this was well done, and if i open the nv_data.bin again and search for "GT-I9000HKD" string again it would be found like "ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿMP 0.800 ÿTPH GT-I9000HKDTPH", wich it didn't...

So i'm thinking about if my problem is "somehow that that line was wiped and i have saved the file without that line????"

Would it be possible that if anyone tells me the exact location of that line and if i write back to there what is missing there that i can have my nv_data.bin ok and get my IMEI back?
