@darth_llamah
I was wondering..the ubuntu that I installed is a minimal package ubuntu..maybe the repos and the other stuff isn't installed and isn't included in the tarball that we can download from Paolo Sammicheli's site..
Now I'm trying to do How to Install Ubuntu on Your Nexus One/Android! | Nexus One Hacks Blog this, maybe the ubuntu.img includes more stuff than in this minimal package.

Wanna native ubuntu, really
(POC's:
Native Debian on G1: http://novaspirit.com/blog/?p=6#more-6
Native Openmoko on G1: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/OpenMoko_on_HTC-Dream )

Sorry for my bad english.
Can't say I've had much luck with this. Testing the IMG file in ubuntu shows the files are in fact there
but mounting it on the device has a blank filesystem, with just lost+found
Hmmmm.... Minimal package should contain repositories info, can you use "add-apt-repository" since you have working base with root?
Code:setprop persist.world.domination 1
Gorrit.
1) Add
to your startubuntu.sh (put it where the other exports are.)export USER=root
Once logged into ubuntu, follow the following:
from there you can install vnc viewers and display managers. :-)echo deb http://ports.ubuntu.com/ jaunty multiverse >> /etc/apt/sources.list
echo deb http://ports.ubuntu.com/ jaunty universe >> /etc/apt/sources.list

Results: This seems to work, but you'll want significantly more memory. I have used up all of a 1gb image file experimenting. 1.2 is more likely the required need to get it started up.
I've been putting together new scripts and whatnot and will post them during the week. I have until Friday as next week I'll be starting a new large project.
I'd rather try Enlightement (latest one in repository), Fluxbox or Matchbox (didn't try this one), lxde is heavier- with Spica's limited ram this can be quite painfull to use.
Maybe extra swap file could be usefull? You can look how it's done for palm platform (even less ram than in Spica)- Hack&Dev
Code:setprop persist.world.domination 1
I installed debian lenny with icewm GUI..but you can try lxde or fluxbox, too.
The only problem is with the native version, that the T-mobile G1 has another bootloader than our spica. The HTC users and modders can modify their bootloader but we can't :s if someone writes an opensource bootloader which is able to modding, probably we can run native debian or ubuntu in our spicas![]()
