Default HOWTO - Samsung Galaxy 3 GT-i5800/i5801: Enable Live Wallpapers

    1) You need to root your i5800/i5801, recommend using super one click 1.5.5

    2) Download and unrar "sdcard.rar" (attached to this thread) in your SD Card

    3) Download Terminal Emulator from the market

    4) Start terminal emulator from your i5800/i5801 and write (in orders):

    Code:

    $su
    #mount -o remount,rw,codepage=utf8,vfat,xattr,check=no /dev/stl6 /system
    #cat /sdcard/LiveWallpapersPicker.apk > /system/app/LiveWallpapersPicker.apk
    #cat /sdcard/libRS.so > /system/lib/libRS.so
    #cat /sdcard/librs_jni.so > /system/lib/librs_jni.so
    #reboot
When you write "su" and press enter, terminal ask for root permission, give it a go!

    5) Once rebooted you can use live wallpapers

If you still don't have Live Wallpapers after reboot pls try as below

    Code:
    $su
    #mount -o remount,rw,codepage=utf8,vfat,xattr,check=no /dev/stl6 /system
    #chown root.root /system/app/LiveWallpapersPicker.apk
    #chown root.root /system/lib/librs_jni.so
    #chown root.root /system/lib/libRS.so
Good luk and have fun, guys

    Because this is wrong:
    #mount -o remount,rw,codepage=utf8,vfat,xattr,check=no /dev/stl5 /system
    G3s /system is on stl6
    #mount -o remount,rw,codepage=utf8,vfat,xattr,check=no /dev/block/stl6 /system

I have a Samsung Galaxy 3 - I8500, I follow the steps one by one, but when I complete the command lines with #reboot and press enter nothing happens. It's not asking me to reboot my cell phone. I tried typing "su" and it didn't accept it.

Since this is my first time on an android phone can someone help me?
Of course it would be very helpful if there was a copy paste procedure, but I don't mind typing as long as something happens when I finish.

Also I have 2 questions. What does "you have to root your phone" means. Will this affect the rest of the programs I have previously installed in my SDcard and phone? I already have Ndrive and some games installed. Is this gonna affect them?

And finally, when I complete the procedure and I have a permit to use my Live Wallpapers, can I erase those 3 files

    LiveWallpapersPicker.apk
    libRS.so
    librs_jni.so

and Terminal Emulator, or leave them there in order to continue using Live Wallpapers?

WOW it'll be a long way ha. OK first off all, root mean you fully control the phone... lots of apps need root access. SO it a MUST if you wanna play long with any Android phone.

    1. Press menu -> settings -> applications -> Stick Unknow sorces in the top and choose Development in the end => then stick the USB debugging option as well. NOW you good to go

    2. You must install SAMSUNG KIES or SAMSUNG PC Studio (it will install the driver so your computer will recognize the phone while connect via USB cable)
3 .Download the root tool here http://forum.samdroid.net/attachment...5-shortfuse.7z
    4. Unzip the file and click the Super One Click xxx.exe and then click Root, around 20s you can see the message Waiting for device...
    5. Now connect your phone to PC using USB cable (your phone must be done @ step 1) now the software will do by itself... just wait around 2-5' maximum until it said that your phone is rooted, do you wanna test? just choose NO and close the software. Now your phone is rooted, make sure to reboot the phone immediately or else some time the phone become very sluggish as the first time being root. After that follow the TUT @ page 1 for Live Wallpaper.

    Good luk, m8!

P/S: while you done with Live wallpaper, you can NOT remove those file or you don't have live wallpaper anymore. Terminal Emulator you can uninstall it if you don't have enough disk space, but i think both this and root explorer are needed for future. So, keep em

    Still no results.

I've done just as you instructed but it doesn't roots the phone. First it says that it couldn't find some files from this SuperOneClick program, some OK's and then it's stuck. Sometimes the whole program goes in "not responding" mode. I left it there for more than 2 hours, not just 5 minutes, and no complete root message appeared.

I've restarted my phone anyway, just in case it's rooted, but no luck.
How difficult can it be to root a phone? It's easy to follow 5 steps, as long as there are results. Maybe those programs are fake.

All galaxy 3 users can confirm that super one click WORKING! must be sth with your phone. Just caml down abit and do it 1 more time,

first of all pls goto settings => Privacy => factory reset (it will return the phone back to the origin as in a box) the phone will reboot => redo the rooting process above step-by-step

(make sure that your choose the USB debugging mode already and install SAMSUNG software (KIES or PC Studio) @ your PC or laptop as well). It'll be done.

Ah do you know your phone's firmware now? Settings => About phone => check information in the end (Build number) such as FROYO.XXJPF

    Good luk!
