There is no official 2.2 firmware for Spica. There are only roms and they use 2.1 kernel for the time being..

@migeon: Of course you can, just remember the i5700 and the i5800 are different phones, most of the forum members own an i5700 but this section is reserved for i5800. Go to samfirmware.com and get the latest 2.2 firmware for i5800 and flash it with Odin (there is a guide on that page, firmwares section)

    Default Info??

    Hi all....
I am a noob to these stuff, but i have successfully upgraded my i5800 to 2.2 using JPB.

But today i was just browsing through and saw that there is a JPF available..

Is it recommended to upgrade to this??....
Can sum1 tell me the differences??...

I have downloaded the JPF, but when i opened it i saw there was multiple files compared to the 1 file that the JPB had...

So this means that i have to manually select the packages??...

    thanks in advance..!

YES the JPF is better than JPB about battery life and the clicking-free issue when calling. The best 2.2 up to now

Just change the extension from .md5 to .tar and put thos files to the proper filed # ODIN and do the flash. Pls backup your data and do the wipe cache and data for trouble-free after flashing new firmware.

    Good luk, m8!

Thank you so much for your reply.

I am going to do the upgrade this afternoon when i get home.

Just for me to be 100% clear,
    For

BOOT - "BOOTLOADER" (file goes here, 1mb)
PHONE - "PHONE" (file goes here, 16.3mb)
PDA -"PDA" (file goes here, 212.2mb)
CSC - "CSC" (file goes here, 6.1mb)
    EFS - ?????

    EFS remains empty????
    This confuses me....

    Thanks Again..!

YES it MUST empty, you can ignore the bootloader as well (if you are a 5801' user and still got the boot animation as a 5801 ). Trust me you don't wanna play around with the EFS... or else you might be lost IMEI and other crazy issue as well. And last but not least, make sure you use the apollo_0531.ops for the OPS field

Good luk with your flashing, m8
