Default [TUTORIAL] Remounting/restoring/backup the /EFS partition

/EFS partition contains a lot of information about your phone, f.e: wifi/bt mac address and your IMEI (nv_data.bin).

It's highly recommended to backup the whole partition, or at least copy the files from the efs directory.

    CORRUPTED OR NOT?

You can check if the efs is mounted or completly damaged with this command:

    adb shell
    mount

You will see something like this:

Red part means /efs is mounted.

IF YOUR PHONE HAVE CORRECT EFS PARTITION:

1, Root your phone - there are several methods to do this.
2, Install root explorer or Estrongs file explorer and copy /efs dir to your sdcard - this will copy the files.

    or

2, Make a backup from the whole partition -this is better if you flash a phone with wrong ops, the only way to restore using this backup.

    Backup:
    adb shell
    su
    dd if=/dev/block/stl4 of=/sdcard/efs.rfs

    Restore:
Add efs.rfs to and unix compatible tar and flash with odin as efs file:

IF YOUR PHONE /EFS IS CORRUPTED:

Flash the included /efs tar with odin:
This will remount your efs partition and (if you have a backup or fixed nv_data.bin) you just need to overwrite files with a file explorer.

    Szia!
Csak egy ötlet: ugyebár ez nem Spicához van, szerintem módosítsd a topik címét hogy /efs helyreállítás i5800 vagy i5801 en(azt hiszem ez az a telefon) Apropó köszönjük a leírást

    Hi!
Just an idea: this thread isn't for Spica, I think you should modify the thread's name or the title to /efs restore on i5800 or i5801(I think this phone is) BTW thanks for the tutorial

Mivel ez az i5800 szekció gondolom egyértelmű melyik telhez van.

    It's in i5800 section I think it's not needed.

The only reason for corrupting efs is use of wrong ops while flashing?

Or clearing the efs, or flashing a bad firmware.

    Hi,
I just would like to know if this save/restore method could be used to make a nand-like backup of SG3 (i5800) and how I could restore it?
I've read on XDA that if I take backups of zImage, factoryfs.rfs, datafs.rfs and chache.rfs, then I should use ODIN for restore. The problem is that it is not correctly described. I tried to put these backups into one tar and put this tar as a PDA file in ODIN - without success.
How should I make a complete backup and how I could restore it?
Thank you in advance. Kösz előre is

    Hi,

I have few problems, maybe you can assist me...
First - I have Samsung Galaxy FIT GT-S5670 with android version: 2.2.1 and Kernel 2.6.32.9-perf
    1. When typing adb shell through Terminal Emulator is get permission denied. If I type su before, I'm getting superuser permissions (i have root on my phone) and then I try to type again adb shell and getting adb not found....
    what does it mean?
    2. efs folder does not exist in my cellular - what does it mean?

Basically what I want to do is to replace my ROM and backup efs before

I suppose you should install adb. But I recommend you to make backup via recovery. Adb you could find in header of dev Voku's kernel
