Default [Discussion] 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

    EDIT by tom3q:

The work on ICS for Spica is resumed by @Cubex and @criminal and I'm helping a bit.

Please spare us from stupid questions for now. It's an early development build, so it should be assumed that _nothing_ works correctly. We will announce it when a usable build shows up.

Until then, all the builds published here are only for experienced users (who know how to get any needed logs and flash back to a working ROM).

    Original message:

We need a 4.0 development forum =) ICS is released from Google now.

    SOURCE IS AVAILABLE NOW.

    repo init -u https://android.googlesource.com/platform/manifest -b android-4.0.1_r1

If you get link here, probabyl 4.0 forum will be created...
Before code is published, it doesn't make sense.

It will soon be released according to news on Google. Doesn't hurt to be prepared. Besides, the 3.0 kernel ought to work with ICS.

Google says "We plan to release the source for the recently-announced
Ice Cream Sandwich soon, once it’s available on devices." I guess it means we have to wait untill there are devices sold with ICS before we will get the source.

I don't think so it makes sense, because it will be empty before tom3q goes from 2.3 to 4.0 (and probably CM will be ported to 4.0).

I think ICS wants a good 3D performance. And while we don't have 3D driver with all features ICS on Spica is a dream.

Interesting, how much will cost to hire programmers at full time for complete 3D drivers? And how much time it takes?
