Not all hope is lost. Apparently the LG Optimus 540 got an (unofficial of course) ICS:

The changelog looks really good with the all-well-known lack of camera. It seems the camera is a big hurdle for developers worldwide.
The phone specs are notoriously similar to the Spica's, even those related to our biggest drawback - RAM.
It would be an interesting experiment, I think, that someone on the forum with access to this phone try it and report back on usability / end user experience.

I'm not waiting for ICS on the Spica, and I did already buy another phone, which, incidentally, is still running Froyo (Spica has actually a more recent Android version LOL), and not because it's not available, but rather because I haven't yet bothered to go over all the hurdles and caveats of a reinstall.

I just found the news and I'm trying to bring something of value to the discussion, for those who might be interested. There was a lot of arguing around whether the RAM was a limiting factor to run ICS on the Spica, and this just may prove otherwise.

Ok i know that there is not ICS before finishing CM7 but i want a share a link from CM google+, its about a flow scheme if a phone gets CM9, The first condition its a 512Mb so or tom3q make some extreme unhuman optimizations or we dont get CM9, i dont care much if i dont get ICS because i will buy a transformer prime but i would like it. At least i have 2.3 thanks to tom3q i must say that is the most optimized version for our spica.
