  1. thanks for the input dude!
  2. Even with default 644 (rw-r--r--) any rogue app would have read access to your info. Key is to prevent, not to cure. Once it's in, it has free access.
  3. one last thing. rwx-rwx-rwx doesn't allow any rogue apps to steal info or anything right? but my whole /system is still ro
  4. okay... so long as its not a virus or anything.. weird thing is, i was able to fix the problem by reflashing everything but it came back:/ if i try to flash a tar backup with the correct permissions or try editing the permissions manually, the phone won't boot. if i wipe data/cache and reinstall cm8.3, the problem is gone but when i reenable samdroid apps2sd, the problem is back. anyways, thanks for your input
  5. Probably a badly created update.zip set recursive permission to your system folder to 777 (rwxrwxrwx). Did you run any? Anyway, minor problem, so don't get too worked up about it. Next CM alpha will reset the perms anyway.
  6. reflashed my whole phone from start (original fw, lk2.08, cm8.3, mods) and permissions are all back to normal rw-r-r. then i started installing some 3rd party apps.. permissions back to rwx-rwx-rwx. can you provide some insight as to the drawbacks of having /system folders with these permissions? other than that, everything seems to work fine, the permissions just bother me
  7. Thanks for the heads up. Might be a bug. Will look into it when I have time.
  8. by the way, one more question. when i try to load presets in ssswitchv6 thru terminal (i.e. high performance), i get this line {: preset: unkown operand. but the settings are set properly anyway. what does this mean?
  9. i tried it but nothing changed anyways, maybe i need to reflash the phone. will wait for a8.4 to come out since apart from the permissions, everything seems to be working well. thanks!
  10. will try that. thanks!
